WESTERN VISTA CREDIT UNION ANNOUNCES 2023 BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND OFFICER TEAM
Cheyenne, Wyo. (May 10, 2023) – Western Vista Credit Union announced at its annual meeting that Mark Mercer and Vickie Nelson were elected to another term on the credit union’s board of directors.
Mercer is the technology supervisor for the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities. He has been a member of the Laramie County Community College computer information systems technical advisory committee and has served on the governor’s link Wyoming broadband advisory committee. He has been a member of Western Vista for 40 years and has served on the board of directors since 2014.
Nelson has spent much of her life working at credit unions and retired as president/CEO of River-Rail Federal Credit Union. She has been a member of Western Vista for nine years and has served on the board of directors since 2020. She holds a master’s degree in accounting and earned the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation from the Credit Union National Association.
Following the annual meeting, the board of directors convened and elected its officer team. They are:

Christine Kronz, Secretary
Vickie Nelson, Treasurer
Tim Bolin, Assistant Secretary
Cindy Garvin, Assistant Treasurer
La Velle Van Voast, who served on the board of directors from 2019 to 2022, announced her resignation from the board of directors. She recently relocated to Great Falls, Mont. to be closer to family. She will remain on the board of directors for the Western Vista Community Foundation.
Pursuant to the bylaws, the board of directors filled Van Voast’s position by a board appointment. Frank Magazine, of Cheyenne, will serve on the board for one year on an interim basis.
Magazine is the former CEO of Melvin Brewing, Wyoming’s largest brewery, and has been a member of Western Vista since 2009. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in chemical engineering. He has served on several non-profit boards and is currently on the board of directors for the Laramie County Library.
